بوعلی اندر غبار ناقه گمدست رومی پردهٔ محمل گرفت
Bu Ali got lost in the dust kicked up by Layla’s dromedary. Rumi’s hand seized the curtain of her litter.
بو علی ناقے کے اڑائے ہوئے غبار میں گم (ہو کے رہ گیا) رومی کے ہاتھ میں محمل کا پردہ آ گیا ۔
این فرو تر رفت و تا گوهر رسیدآن بگردابی چو خس منزل گرفت
This one dived deeper, deeper still, till he came upon the pearl he was after. But the other got caught in a whirlpool like a piece of straw.
اور یہ گہرائی میں گیا ا ور موتی تک جا پہنچا ۔ (بو علی) نے تنکے کی مانند گرداب ہی کو منزل بنا لیا ۔ (حقیقت کی رسائی کے لیے عشق اور عقل دونوں نے کوشش کی ۔ عشق پا گیا عقل محروم رہ گئی) ۔
حق اگر سوزی ندارد حکمت استشعر میگردد چو سوز از دل گرفت
If the truth has no fervour, it is plain philosophy. If it has the proper fervour, it is poetry.
حقیقت اگر سوز سے خالی ہے تو فلسفہ ہے ۔ اگر وہ دل سے سوز حاصل کر لے تو شعر بن جاتا ہے ۔ حق بے سوز فلسفہ ۔ حق با سوز: شعر ۔
