هلال عید
نتوان ز چشم شوق رمید ای هلال عیداز صد نگه براه تو دامی نهاده اند
You cannot manage to evade the eager view of people waiting for a sight of you. A thousand glances have conspired to weave a net to catch you in.
اے ہلال عید! تو ہماری چشم شوق سے بھاگ نہیں سکتا ۔ ہم نے تیرے راستے میں سینکڑوں نگاہوں کا جال بچھا رکھا ہے ۔
بر خود نظر گشا ز تهی دامنی مرنجدر سینهٔ تو ماه تمامی نهاده اند
Open your eyes to yourself. Do not grieve that you are a bare outline. Within you lies a real full moon.
خود پر آنکھ کھول ، اپنے خالی دامن پر افسوس نہ کر ۔ پہلے دن کا چاند بڑا باریک ہوتا ہے رفتہ رفتہ وہ پورا چاند بن جاتا ہے ۔ تیرے سینے کے اندر پورا چاند رکھ دیا گیا ہے ۔ نوٹ: کارکنان قضا و قدر نے ہر انسان میں ماہ تمام یعنی مرد کامل بننے کی استعداد مخفی کر دی ہے جس نے اپنے اندر کو تلاش کیا وہ چودھویں کے چاند کی طرح مرد کامل بن گیا ۔
