عجم بحریست ناپیدا کناریکہ در وی گوہر الماس رنگ است
Persia is a sea with no visible shore —
In it, gems of diamond hue do pour.
عجم (کا فکرِ خواب آور) ایسا سمندر ہے جس کا کوئی کنارہ نہیں —
اس کے اندر قیمتی سفید موتی ہیں۔
ولیکن من نرانم کشتی خویشبہ دریائی کہ موجش بی نہنگ است
Yet I will not steer my ship, though rich it seems —
In a sea where waves hold no whales in their streams.
لیکن میں ایسے سمندر میں اپنی کشتی نہیں ڈالتا —
جس کی موجوں میں مگرمچھ (خطرات) نہ ہوں۔
