نہ من بر مرکب ختلی سوارم

نہ من بر مرکب ختلی سوارمنہ از وابستگان شہریارم
I ride not on a steed of noble breed —
Nor am I a companion of a king's creed.
نہ میں اختلافی گھوڑے پر سوار ہوں نہ کسی بادشاہ کے درباریوں میں سے ہوں ۔ (عاشق بادشاہوں سے بے نیاز ہوتا ہے) ۔
مرا ای ہمنشین دولت ہمین بسچوکاوم سینہ را لعلی بر آرم
My companion, this is my wealth —
When I dig into my chest, a ruby I unearth.
اے دوست میرے لیے یہی دولت کافی ہے جب سینے کو کریدوں ، یاقوت نکالوں ۔ (میرے لیے یہی دولت کافی ہے کہ جب تنہائی میں فکر سخن کرتا ہوں تو نہایت بلند پایہ اور بیش قیمت اشعار موزوں کر لیتا ہوں ۔ یعنی جب میں فکر میں ڈوبتا ہوں معانی و مضامین کے موتی نکال لیتا ہوں ) ۔
