اگر در مشت خاک تو نہادنددل صد پارۂ خونابہ باری
If dwells in your earthly being —
A heart, fractured into a hundred bleeding pieces
اگر خدا نے تیرے بدن میں خون کے آنسو برسانے والا سو ٹکڑے ہوا دل رکھا ہے ۔
ز ابر نو بھاران گریہ آموزکہ از اشک تو روید لالہ زاری
Learn from the fresh spring clouds to shed tears —
That from your tears, a tulip meadow may arise.
تازہ اور نئی بہار کے بادل سے رونا سیکھ تاکہ تیرے آنسووَں سے لالے کا باغ اگے (پیدا ہو) ۔ مراد یہ ہے کہ اے مسلمان اگر اللہ تعالیٰ تجھے محبت کرنےوالا دل عطا فرمائے تو تجھے لازم ہے کہ محبت کرنے والوں سے قوم کے غم میں جلنے اور سلگنے کا فن سیکھ لے تاکہ تو اپنی قوم کی خدمت کر سکے ۔
