The history of the East and West tells that all wars and bloodshed has been for the land.

مشرق و مغرب کے حالات سے یہ بات سامنے آتی ہے کہ ان میں زمین کی خاطر لڑائی جھگڑوں کے فتنے پیدا ہوئے ہیں ۔

Land (Earth) is the bride and and we are her husbands; this witch is with all of us and at the same time with none of us.

یہ ایک دلہن ہے اور ہم سب اس کے شوہر ہیں ۔ یہ ایک جادوگر ہے جو ہم سب کے ساتھ بھی ہے اور ہم سب کے بغیر بھی ۔

All of its actions are mere pretentions; otherwise she is neither yours nor mine.

اس کے سارے ناز نخرے مکر و فریب ہیں نہ یہ تیری ہے اور نہ میری ہے ۔

These rocks and stones do not suite you; you are a wayfarer and these are stationary.

یہ دوڑے اور پتھر تجھ سے موافقت نہیں رکھتے ۔ اس لیے کہ یہ تو آبادی کے اسباب ہیں ایک جگہ ٹکے ہوئے ہیں اور تو سفر میں ہے ۔

Who is awake and who is asleep? What has a wayfarer to do with static!

سوئے ہوئے اور بیدار میں باہمی میل جول کیسا کسی ساکن کو حرکت و گردش میں رہنے والے سے کیا سروکار

God has termed the land only as our asset and that asset has been given free of cost.

اللہ تعالیٰ نے زمین کو صرف ہماری متاع فرمایا ہے ۔ یہ بے بہا زمین مفت ہے مفت ۔

Listen and understand this point O landlord: Seek livelihood and space for grave; do not grab the land.

اے جاگیردار، زمیندار تو مجھ سے ایک گہری بات سمجھ ۔ تو اس زمین سے رزق اور قبر حاصل کر اس پر قبضہ نہ کر ۔

How long is its co-existence with you! You were there when it did not exist; you exist today whereas it is perceived to be existing.

تیری اس کی محبت کب تک، تو تو بود (وجود) ہے اور وہ نبود (نابود، مردہ) ہے ۔

You are an eagle rise to the sky; and even fly beyond the limits of the skies.

تو تو ایک عقاب ہے، تو آسمانوں کا طواف کرنے والا بن، بال و پر کھول یعنی اڑ اور خاک سے پاک ہو جا ۔

The meanings of ‘the earth is the Lord’s’ are obvious; one who does not understand this clear message is a kaafir.

الارض للہ (زمین اللہ کی ہے ) کا باطن ظاہر ہے جو کوئی یہ ظاہر نہیں دیکھتا وہ کافر ہے ۔

I do not urge you to give up this world, because it is your precious asset.

میں تجھے یہ تو نہیں کہتا کہ تو مکان اور آبادی کو چھوڑ دے، یہ جہان رنگ و بو تو تیری بدولت ہے ۔

Pick the grains from dust like the pearls but also prey from the sky like a hawk.

تو زمین سے دانوں کے موتی حاصل کر (اس کی کاشت سے زیادہ پیداوار حاصل کر) تو اس کے آسمانوں سے شاہین کی طرح شکار حاصل کر ۔

Use your pick (and shovel) at its mountains; marshal your spiritual power to invade its material being.

تو اپنی کلہاڑی اس کے کوہسار پر چلا ۔ اپنے اندر سے نور حاصل کر کے اس کی آگ پر لگا ۔

Give up the habit of carving new idols and instead create a new world commensurating your ideas.

آزری طریقے سے بیگانہ ہو جا اور اپنی خواہش کے مطابق ایک نیا جہان تراش ۔

Do not tie-up your heart with material world; heart is God’s abode, let no one enter that.

تو دنیا کی دل کشیوں اور دلچسپیوں اور محل اور آبادی سے دل نہ لگا ۔ اس لیے کہ دل تو اس ذاتِ اقدس کا گھر ہے ۔ اسے تو اس ذات کے سوا اور کسی کو نہ دے ۔

What dying broke having nothing for grave or coffin? It is to get engrossed in accumulating wealth and lost in the company of wife and the son.

بے سروسامانی کی حالت میں اور گور و کفن کے بغیر مرنا کیا ہے سونے چاندی اور فرزندوں میں خود کو کھونا یا محو کرنا ہے ۔

One who memorized (practiced) ‘la ilah’ he virtually possessed the entire world.

جو کوئی لا الہ (اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں ہے ) کے الفاظ حفظ کر لیتا ہے وہ سارے جہان کو اپنے اندر سمو لیتا ہے ۔

Faqr is not to starve and dance (half) naked; but it is to rule the world, not to stay away from it.

بھوک اور رقص اور عریانی یہ فقر کہاں ہے (یہ کہاں کا فقر ہے) فقر تو بادشاہت ہے اس میں ترکِ دنیا کہاں ہے (نہیں ہے) ۔
